FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

2000 Atlantic Division Award Winners Announced

05/30/00 -- The Atlantic Division Awards Committee reviewed a number of excellent nominations for the Atlantic Division awards.  The committee members made their choices based upon the ballots received.

The committee is pleased to announce that the ballots have been counted with the result that Riley Hollingsworth K4ZDH was named the 2000 Atlantic Division Ham of the Year, Bill Thompson W2MTA was named the 2000 Atlantic Division Grand Ole Ham and Frank Bauer KA3HDO was named the 2000 Atlantic Division Technical Achievement Award Winner.

Riley K4ZDH, working within the FCC, has been instrumental in cleaning up the ham bands. Riley had commented that he wants to keep amateur radio available to his grandchildren and their grandchildren.  He has stated that he wants to work with those creating problems on the air to show them the proper way of operating.

Bill W2MTA has been the Western New York Section Manager for many years and has been quite active with the National Traffic System.  It is because of his continues leadership and devoted service through the years that he was awarded this prestigious award.

Frank Bauer KA3HDO is well known through out the amateur radio space program.  Frank has been very involved with the space program through his work at NASA.  He also has brought forth his talents and expertise with the ARISS, SAREX and AMSAT programs.

Please join us in congratulating these three worthy Atlantic Division Awardees in their efforts in keeping amateur radio on the move.
